Why There’s So Much to Celebrate on Sarasota’s Bayfront This October
Posted on October 1, 2026
October is giving Sarasota’s bayfront several reasons to celebrate at once. Around 1000 Boulevard of the Arts, a series of milestones is bringing different pieces of the waterfront into focus. The Bay is marking its fourth anniversary with a month of community programming. A new gathering place, The Plaza, is targeted to open within the park. Nearby, The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Sarasota Bay is approaching anticipated delivery. And newly unveiled renderings of Hyatt Centric® Harborside offer a first look at the hotel planned alongside the private residences at 1000 Boulevard of the Arts.
Individually, each marks progress. Together, they offer a clearer picture of what it means to be at the intersection of Sarasota Bay, The Bay Park and the Quay Waterfront District.

The Bay Marks Four Years on the Waterfront
The Bay has become an active part of Sarasota’s waterfront, with its lawns, paths and public spaces providing a setting for recreation, events and community gatherings.
This October, the park is celebrating its fourth anniversary with more than 70 free events throughout the month. Among them is Salsa & Sunsets, a community celebration scheduled for October 7 at The Nest, bringing live music, dancing and food and drink to the waterfront.
For someone considering a home nearby, the significance is easy to understand. The park is not simply green space on a map. Programming puts people on the waterfront and gives residents another reason to walk outside, meet friends or spend an evening along Sarasota Bay. At 1000 Boulevard of the Arts, the residences are planned adjacent to The Bay, placing this public waterfront activity within walking distance.
The Plaza at The Bay Park Under Construction
Construction is under way on the new Town Square and its first restaurant, scheduled to open in the fall of 2027. Located along Van Wezel Way, the gathering space is planned around a large shade structure and is intended to support events and community programming. The newest dining venue at The Bay will be known as The Plaza, with its name harkening back into the history of the site. The Plaza revives a connection to the Plaza de Santo Domingo dedication made there in 1964. A rich history leading to a bright future and an exciting new destination for community gatherings.

The Ritz-Carlton Residences Nears Completion
The waterfront is also advancing on the residential side. The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Sarasota Bay, developed by Kolter Urban, topped out in late 2025 and is progressing toward anticipated delivery in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Its progress is another visible marker along this stretch of Sarasota Bay. It also reflects Kolter Urban’s continued investment in Sarasota, where the company’s residential portfolio includes VUE Sarasota Bay, Mark Sarasota, Bayso Sarasota and The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Sarasota.
For 1000 Boulevard of the Arts, the relevance is geographic as much as developmental. The neighboring residences, Quay Harbor, The Bay and downtown’s arts and cultural destinations are increasingly defining a connected waterfront setting in which residential, recreational and cultural experiences sit close together.
Hyatt Centric Harborside Offers a Look at What’s Ahead
Another piece of the immediate surroundings became easier to picture with the recent unveiling of renderings for Hyatt Centric® Harborside.

Hyatt Centric Harborside will share the waterfront tower with 1000 Boulevard of the Arts, bringing dining, guest accommodations and hospitality experiences to the address. Its Hyatt Centric identity is particularly suited to a location with convenient access to the waterfront, downtown dining, cultural venues, The Bay and the Quay.
For future residents, the hotel will offer the added convenience of nearby accommodations for visiting family and friends.
The new imagery makes it easier to envision Hyatt Centric Harborside as part of the broader waterfront experience surrounding 1000 Boulevard of the Arts.

Four Milestones, One Sarasota Bayfront Location
What makes October notable is not any single announcement. At The Bay, the focus is celebrating four years of community engagement and life outdoors. At the future Town Square, a new public gathering place is under construction. At The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Sarasota Bay, it is a prestigious neighbor approaching its completion. At Hyatt Centric Harborside, newly released imagery provides a clearer look at the hospitality experience planned at 1000 Boulevard of the Arts. Together, they are adding new energy to a remarkably connected stretch of Sarasota’s bayfront.
For those who have been following 1000 Boulevard of the Arts, October offers an opportunity to celebrate new beginnings with more of its surroundings in view. And yet there’s an even more exciting milestone ahead.
1000 Boulevard of the Arts Prepares to Break Ground
Groundbreaking for 1000 Boulevard of the Arts is planned for late October with a celebration event scheduled for mid-November. Marking an important construction milestone for the bayfront residences, we’ll be sharing more about the groundbreaking festivities in the weeks to come.
